Penelope Jaggesar Chaffer, a multi award winning documentary filmmaker, writer and children’s environmental health advocate came to Saskatchewan September 26, 2013 at the invitation of the Organic Connections Board to provide information for consumers during Organic Week. Her session was taped and is made available here for your viewing and sharing.

She is the first black, female director to be nominated for a British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) award. Born in London, of Trinidadian parentage, she has also won over 10 awards for her work with the BBC and Channel 4, including 5 gold national and international Promax awards and is a double BAFTA nominee.

In 2010 she won the Healthy Child, Healthy World’s Mom on a Mission award for inspiration “For her remarkable perseverance against all obstacles to ensure a healthier world for all children”. Her compelling life story, including the creation of her inspiring film “Toxic Baby”, serves as an exemplary model to all mothers, parents, and concerned citizens of what one person can achieve when she generously gives back and overcomes adversity with courage.
